| Sheffrec Cycling Club - Where to Meet
Sunday Club Runs
Club runs take place Sunday mornings, meeting at 8.50am and departing from Malin Bridge at 9.00am prompt.
The meeting place is on Loxley Road, Malin Bridge, Sheffield 6. This is easily located by following the one way system at the end of Holme Lane and heading towards Bradfield, once past the Yew Tree Public House, we meet on the left hand side at the bus stop. We visit most areas of the Peak District and we also visit West Yorkshire. If you come along on a Sunday club run, we will be on the road for about 4 hours covering about 50-60 miles with a cafe stop. The pace on the Club run is to the slowest rider and we always look after new members and encourage them to progress. Unlike other clubs we welcome new members to ride with us so don’t worry that you might be left because that’s not how we welcome new riders.. Please see the map below for further details of where to meet - click on the map to view a larger image.

Please note that on the first Sunday in each month we meet in the Wicker which is close to the centre of Sheffield. From the Wicker we head out towards the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. These rides are often flat and don’t usually include many climbs but we usually do around 60-65 miles. The meeting time is still the same, meeting at 9.00am and departing at 9.10am prompt.
We publish the Sunday club run destination in our club runs section and the details are also added to our shoutbox on the homepage for non-mebers to view.
Tuesday and Thursday Night Training Rides
We have night rides on Tuesday and Thursday nights, meeting at 5.50pm and depart at 6.00pm prompt. These rides are training rides where the pace is much higher than on the Sunday club run. We are usually on the road for around 2 hours and head out into the Peaks via Bradfield and Strines so not for the faint hearted. Distances vary due either to the weather in the winter or the amount of sunlight during the summer months but are often around 30 to 35 miles. Please keep in mind that most of us race in the North Midlands Road Race League from April to August so numbers maybe lower during these months on a Thursday. If you come along in the winter you will need lights."
Further details of Club Runs, Club Events and Club Trips will posted in the Forums, which you can view here. |
